Made it!

After being homeless since Thursday, the Sherck gypsy caravan has landed in Indiana! We don't have internet in our apartment at this point and the only furniture we have at this point is a chair that was left and our bed, which we haven't set up yet. Our stuff won't arrive until Wednesday, which gives us time to get settled and to figure out where things will go. We set some things aside to move ourselves--things the movers wouldn't move like cleaning supplies and booze, plus supplies to tide us over a few days. For instance, we have a Sleep Number bed, which is basically a really fancy dual-chamber air mattress (that doesn't feel like an air mattress); the mattress breaks down pretty far and the "box spring" is really a heavy plastic platform that also breaks down. So we decided that instead of living on our camping air mattress like we did last time, we'd have a bit more luxury while waiting. Of course, there's only so far that a Queen-sized bed can break down, so it turned out that we had more things than we could take in our car.

Mom to the rescue! My 73-year-old mother made the 4-hour trip there and back again to help us out and then gave us the use of her pickup today to get our stuff out to Indiana. All in all, things are going well, though I expect them to stay busy in their way for the better part of the week. Still, I should get the chance to update more than I have lately (which is to say, not at all).
