Tonight, Lauren and I attended the first class in the Master Gardener certification classes that are being offered at our local library from the Purdue University extension service. Tonight's meeting didn't amount to too much in terms of gardening information. Mostly, it was an introduction to the program and an introduction to one another. Which, I suppose, makes sense, because part of the intent behind these classes is not just to help people become better gardeners but also to build community, both among us and between us and our communities.
In any case, we've got 15 more 3-hour classes staring us down from now until sometime in December, and I'm sure we'll learn a lot. Being new to the community, it's also a nice way for us to meet some people who share at least one interest with us.
