Note to self

posted Saturday, 12 May 2007

We've had several beautiful days in a row here--it's weather like this combined with a willful ignorance of all the work hanging over me that make it abundantly clear why being alive is far preferable to the alternative. It's great weather to sit outside on the back porch with the dog in the yard, listening to music, enjoying some cool refreshing beverage, reading a book, or inflicting the recorder on my neighbors practicing the recorder, or playing a sort of fetch with the pup, or catching up with friends on the phone--all of these things made up my evening yesterday and part of my day today.  Then I went out to see the folks out and about on Thayer and pick up some Pad Thai (not as good as I remembered, but still fine) and then find a dark hole to earn some high scores in the arena of the Megatouch game. I might easily say of my time, however,

And faith, 'tis pleasant till  'tis past:
The mischief is that 'twill not last.

Thus the concerns of the day encroach--the things that need to be graded, the things that need to be done, they're all waiting around somewhere in the background. Still, the stolen moments were awfully nice. Note to self: find way to become independently wealthy so such evenings are possible more often.
