No time for a proper entry, I'm afraid. The weekend has once again zipped by and I find myself with quite a bit of work to do.
Not that I didn't find any time for myself this weekend. Besides seeing Iron Man, I finished the 4th book The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher; I skipped that one the first time around because my local bookstore didn't have it, but when Lauren picked it up from the local library to read, I decided to pick up the spare, so to speak. Now I've started the newest book in the series--so far so good, but now I won't have much time to read for a while.
The sourdough bread that I made turned out very well. The key was that I had to get up early and make the dough before I left for school so that it could rise most of the day. The wild yeasts just aren't as fast as commercial yeast (and/or there aren't as many of them doing the work), so they need that time. Lauren found some incredibly cheap small baking stones for personal pizzas or small bread loaves, and I'm looking forward to using those and seeing how they change my bread baking experience. I also spent all weekend consuming sourdough pancakes. Mmmmmm.
Thanks to our upstairs neighbors, our internet dilemma is solved--they're kindly letting us use their secured wireless network. I offered to pay part of the bill for the privilege of using their internet, but no dollar amount was set. I took it to mean that they won't charge us for the mere two months we'll be using it, but with my luck they actually plan to charge us something outrageous. We'll see, but I'm going to assume they're just being nice to us.
We got caught up on Lost today, but not Battlestar Galactica. Reliable internet will help. Lost continues to be interesting, though seeing the flash-forwards takes some of the suspense away--how can we worry about Jack's appendicitis when we know he lives and gets off the island? On the other hand, the way they've been knocking off characters lately has added some tension back in. It was good to see that Ben was human too, there when he miscalculated and got his "daughter" killed. He's still mysteriously over-informed and obnoxiously able when it comes to manipulation, but at least he's human, right?
