Quick update from the wilderness

Lauren and I are well and truly homeless now. After sleeping on an air mattress Wednesday night, we got everything that was left in our apartment either packed or thrown away. It was a stressful day, and we weren't able to leave town until almost 6 p.m., at which point we started our 6+ hour drive to upstate NY. It probably would have been 7+, but at that point we were more concerned about time than fuel efficiency.

Beaker, at least, is loving our state of homelessness, since we're at my friend's place in the middle of nowhere, where she can run free. Lauren and I can't say we're unhappy about it either, especially now that there's a shower here. The only downside is that we have to go to the local library for internet access, and it has crazy hours. Today, for instance, it's 11:30-2:30, and we have to jostle with the local highschool kids for time on one of the three computers. So it goes. If I can manage to use some kind of storage device, perhaps I can write some entries on my laptop and publish them later. We'll see; this entry, though, will of necessity be short.
