Blog-City's new authentication process for posting comments--in which they ask you to do some basic addition--is actually, I suspect, a way to build self-confidence in bloggers. "Hooray! I'm good at math!" every time we successfully post a comment.

With some tweaking, it could also be customizable to be used as a gatekeeper. If you prefer a slightly more pessimistic mindset in your commenters, you might try subtraction (glass half empty). If you want to maintain a higher intellectual level, might I suggest differential equations?
