Lauren and I Netflixed two movies recently. City of Ember we liked pretty well. Twilight was underwhelming. I guess I can see the kids like it, but it didn't do much for us: broody and over-the-top isn't really our thing. It could have ended 45 minutes into the movie with Edward losing control and ripping out Bella's throat and we would have reached roughly the same level of contentment.
While we're on the subject of big productions on the small screen, my duty schedule forced us to watch Lost between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., while I will maintain is not the optimal time--only our enthusiasm kept us there, and we went to bed feeling underwhelmed. Thanks to talking about it with friends (including Voreblog's recap), though, I found myself retroactively more excited about it than when I watched the first time. I've said elsewhere that a TV series--at least one like this with so many mysteries--can only be judged by its ultimate conclusion, which we're only one season away from receiving. But the writers over there sure do a good job of keeping us talking and interested.
