With all the hustle and bustle of last weekend's wedding and zombie hunting, I never managed to put out a new TT'n'S. I would promise to make this one twice as good as last week's would have been, but that would probably say more about what a pile of poo last week's would have been than anything else. Instead, I will just go forward with... whatever it is that I'm doing. It's an either/or Think 'n' Share. Come think and/or share; better yet, discover what can occur when you do both.
Do you consider yourself more of a "morning person" or a "night owl"? Explain.
I've found that if you are willing to go without much sleep, you don't need to choose between the two. I can stay up late, but I can also get up early--preferably not on opposite ends of the same sleep cycle, but it happens more often than I'd care to admit. I feel somewhat more of an affinity for the night than the morning, and in college especially I would always rather stay up late to get something done than go to sleep without having it finished and trust myself to finish it in the morning. At the same time, when I was a kid I had the crappiest alarm clock in the world--at least that's how it felt--it had a huge roll of numbers that it flipped over to show the time, it had an alarm that was only really accurate to the quarter hour--everything else was guesswork--and no snooze feature. This meant that when the alarm went off, I had two choices: get up or roll over and wake up whenever, probably missing whatever it was I set the alarm for. So I learned to get up on the first bell and still do, mostly. I'm not always cheerful in the morning, but I can get up and go about my business.
Are you more of a cat person or a dog person? Explain.
Much like my last answer, I suppose, I'm versatile this way. Growing up, we always had both cats and dogs and I loved each. I like the convenience and cleanliness of a cat--they're virtually born knowing how to use a litterbox and they can take care of themselves for weeks at a time, unlike a dog. Dogs, though, are just such companionable animals. They're loyal, they're excited to see you when you come home (your cat, on the other hand, is still pissed that you left in the first place), and they love to play (sometimes too much--see dogs, care and maintainence of). Add to the equations that I'm mildly allergic to cats and most dogs smell. You'd think I'd never have pets--and I don't--but I love sharing my girlfriend's dog and if I ever get a place with a lot of wide open space I'd like to get a nice big dog of my own, so I guess I lean toward being a dog person.
Elvis or The Beatles?
I'm told these are mutually exclusive, but I don't buy it. I'm also told this is a fundamental personality test, but I don't really buy that either, but since this is clearly an even/or-themed Think 'n' Share, I had to ask this question, right? So I'd say I'm more of a Beatles guy. I appreciate the synergy of musical collaboration; I appreciate the variety of musical experiments they undertook; I appreciate the underlying complexity. Elvis has the raw sensuality of rock, but The Beatles are the combination of passion, intellect, and artistry.
Morning or night? I used to be more of a night person. There seemed to be
a lot more fun and excitement at night. I was a cranky mid morning person
after being up all night. My kids even bought a sign to hang on the
bedroom door that said something like, "better you wake a sleeping bear
than my mom." Now I have to get up at 3am to be to work at 4am. So to be
functional, because I do like my sleep, I have to be in bed by 7pm. My
night owl days are curtailed for the time being. I'm still not real
talkative in the am and I'll get cranky real fast if I'm hit with too much.
I have to ease into the day.
If you find yourself leaning toward the Beatles, are you a Harrison, Lennon
or McCartney man?
I have been a morning person all my life. Even as a teen. I'm dog tired
by nine in the school year, ten in the summer. I'm one of those awful
people who sings at 6:30 a.m. I'm allergic to cats and I adore my dog. I
never understood the Elvis thing. The Beatles, however, never get old.
