Well, if you have an interest in seeing this, you probably already know that our administration systematically misled and lied to us in order to get us into the most recent Iraq war, which makes it not all that important that you see this documentary.

On the other hand, it's good to be reminded, occasionally, that you're not some conspiracy theory nut when you distrust your government. And anyway, this is a well-made documentary in a profoundly different way than, say, a Michael Moore documentary.

Don't get me wrong: each is superlatively well-done in its way, but while Michael Moore's films are masterpieces for the marshaling of strong feelings, this documentary is superlative in the tight case that it builds, in its rigorous, above-the-board documentation. This doesn't rely on the clever distortion or embarassing situation the way the Moore does. Don't get me wrong: I like Michael Moore, but he's easy to write off as a left-wing nut-job who distorts the facts. He is, essentially, the left's version of talk radio. This documentary is remarkable for its straight-forward, fact-based approach.

It only got four stars from me because, as an excellent documentary, it can only be so exciting and engaging. So it goes.
